Britax Marathon 70 – Best convertible carseat!

I’ve had and tried several kinds/brands of convertible car seats and this is by far the best and easiest to install and use. I have a 2009 Toyota Highlander and this fits very well with the latch system. It’s a rock solid fit. I have the tether attached down where the driver seat bolts to the floor of the vehicle (Britax recommends that you use the tether in the rear facing mode as well as front facing and they provide a rear facing tether attachment that you can use to wrap around anything that is bolted to the vehicle frame.)

Why I love this seat:
The seat is VERY easy to install with the latch system and almost as easy with a seat belt. Each latch strap has its own buckle. I installed it rear-facing with the latch in about 5 minutes. (That doesn’t include the time it took me to read the manual though – which EVERYONE should do prior to installing any carseat).
The seat has 3 different recline settings for a more custom fit in your vehicle – since backseats aren’t all at the same angle. This is an awesome feature.
My daughter’s head doesn’t droop when she sleeps because I can install this at an angle that keeps it tilted back enough – lots of other convertible seats were too upright when rear-facing.
You can easily adjust the height of the shoulder straps on the back of the carseat by lifting a lever – while the car seat is in the car and while the baby is in the seat.
You can adjust the tightness of the harness with the strap on the front of the carseat while the kid is in the seat – very nice, convenient, and easy.
The rubber guards on the harness make it easy to keep the straps where they are supposed to be and help keep the chest buckle in place.
This seat is very cushy – much softer and more padding than all the others we have owned or used.
The fabric circle around the crotch buckle is a nice touch – less chance of pinching baby’s legs and a protector against hot buckles on hot days.
The little fabric pads on the shoulder straps are softer than most and are padded – nice against baby’s shoulders, neck, and chin.
The size range is also a big plus for me – this will probably be the last car seat I buy for my daughter because of the 70 pound limit. (We also have a Fronteir 85 for my 6 year old daughter and she loves that one as well)
You can rear-face longer in this seat because of the higher rear-face weight limit. I have it rear facing for my 17 month old and plan to keep her rear facing at least for another 6 months to a year or more.
It comes in lots of fun colors (we just have black though – which is nice too).
The fabric is easy to clean – pet hair wipes off easily as does food. The onyx color doesn’t show much/any dirt which is a definite plus!
All in all this is an awesome seat. I know it’s expensive but if you watch Amazon for a while you can find it cheaper here than most other places. We paid $217 with free super saver shipping. Not bad.

I recently ordered 2 Britax Marathon 70 car seat for my twin 14mo olds. The 2 units arrived a couple of days earlier than the expected delievey date. The cost on Amazon was much cheaper than Toys R Us. After I took them out of the box all I had to do was a few, very minor adjustments to the straps and snapped them into my 2008 Dodge Caravan (middle bucket seats)foward facing. Done. They fit great. It was so easy. Prior to these car seats I owned 2 Peg Perego SIP 30/30 (Which were also great seats) but my kids had out grown them. The Britax seats were much easier to setup and install into the van than the Peg Perego seats. We took a test drive with the new seats and my twins fell asleep in them within 20 min. They really enjoyed them. Lots of padding and comfort. Open style so the kids can look outside the van windows, something I feel they really enjoyed. Overall I am very pleased with my purchace. Well worth the money
